The body/punch is CNC machined from rugged, non-marring Delrin which is already used for many firearm applications today. The latch pull loop is heavy duty, braided stainless steel wire. Both the loop and tempered steel extractor tool are affixed to an Aluminum cap that screws into the top of the tool.

The "Pistol Pal" extractor tool also works great for the new Ruger® MKIV™ and MKIV™ 22/45™ pistols, to remove the extractor for changing to an aftermarket extractor and for cleaning.

Gunsmither MKIII and 22/45 Pistol Pal

I replaced my homemade disassembly "tool" that I had used on my Ruger for several years. This tool is much better than my homemade device. It makes the disassembly of the 22/45 a lot easier. I got to the point where I was not shooting the Ruger very often due to the hassle of taking it apart to clean it. I recommend this product to anyone who wants to have a better time shooting the 22/45 Ruger.

This thing really helps with disassembly and reassembly but also with making removal of the extractor a breeze.

Takedown Tool

What a life saver this little thing is! It's a must have. I keep my Pistol Pal in a small tool kit for my 22/45, that goes in my shooting bag. Best money I've spent for my 22/45 so far. It is so handy when I'm cleaning my pistol. It makes removing the main spring housing so much easier.

Just changed out the factory extractor using the Gunsmither MKIII 22/45 Pistol Pal. Amazing how a simple but effective tool can be exactly what's needed to make the job much easier. This tool will never leave my tool box!

Protect your $400 investment with a $14 Gunsmither Pistol Pal and end your frustration. One 'oops' on a mainspring housing removal and that scarred back strap (especially the 22/45) will forever remind you that you should have had your Pal. The BEST tool for extractor removal I've seen in 40 years with MK's & 22/45's. A marvel of engineering simplicity and the best first accessory for your Ruger, hence the name.
