Sized to fit your shooting box, or in your pocket. This excellent tool was designed and is manufactured by a professional gunsmith on modern CNC machine tools. The body/punch is CNC machined from rugged, non-marring Delrin which is already used for many firearm applications today. The latch pull loop is heavy duty, braided stainless steel wire. Both the loop and tempered steel extractor tool are affixed to an Aluminum cap that screws into the top of the tool.
The "Pistol Pal" extractor tool also works great for the new Ruger® MKIV™ and MKIV™ 22/45™ pistols, to remove the extractor for changing to an aftermarket extractor and for cleaning.

Gunsmither MKIII & 22/45 Pistol Pal
Tool is a simple, yet well-thought out tool which is a must-have for those with the Ruger MK series pistol. The wire loop to unhook the mainspring housing is simple, yet works perfectly every time. It beats using a bent paperclip or a scratch-prone screwdriver. The punch to push out the mainspring housing cylinder out of the barrel/breech is of perfect diameter and has a concave face to match the rounded cylinder. The extractor spring remover works ok, but I think the wire should be bent at a right-angle about 1/16" from the tip of the wire. In this way, it could pull down the extractor spring so that the extractor itself can come loose.

This item is good. For it to earn 5 stars, the part that is used as a "punch" to remove the bolt stop needs to be approximately 1" longer, as it is too short for a pistol with target sights. The tool hits the target sight before the bolt stop pin is fully released. It's a simple but important oversight. Otherwise, it works well and is handy.

The missing tool
All of the previous reviews are spot on. While I can disassemble and reassemble my Rugers without this, the tool makes it so much easier. The extractor punch is worth its weight and then some. I should have bought this when it first hit the market. A fantastic product!

Pistol pal
The maker of this gadget is genius! Often times I will find it in my pocket in the middle of the day because I use it so much. I need to order a couple more so I can have one in my range bag and another with my gun tools. Then, the original can reside in my pocket where it will always be handy. using this tool, I can disassemble and reassemble my 2245s blindfolded in less than 30 seconds. Seriously, I've timed it. totally worth the price, this is a tool you will usefrequently.
