Walther P22 +5 Wingman Basepad Installation Instructions

At a glance:

  • Increase your magazine size by 5
  • Better magazine seating
  • Extends bottom of magazine for better grip, better control

The Wingman +5 Magazine Bumpers for Walther® P22® are made of nearly indestructible Zytel®. These finely made magazine bumpers are designed to enable your factory magazines to load five extra rounds! These bumpers extend the bottom of the magazine to allow for better grip and better handling which always results in better accuracy. Even more importantly, they help with seating magazines securely into the pistol frame by providing extra material to "bump" them into a locked state.

From competition shooters to casual backyard plinkers, everyone can benefit from a two-pack of these simple to install upgrades. Don't load less ammo, load more with the TANDEMKROSS magazine bumpers!

IMPORTANT: Installing the bumper removes the magazine follower button so the last round hold open feature will be disabled.

Wingman +5 Magazine Bumper for Walther P22Q

Posted by Virgil V Lester Jr on 2nd Nov 2024

The magazine bumper was relatively easy to install. I did have to remove it and sand the ridges inside it and install the spacer so rounds would feed properly and hold the fifteen rounds. One thing that changed is the slide would no longer lock open after firing the last round. I definitely like the way it fits and feels. I can grip the pistol better now.

    +5 for Walther P22

Super easy to install. I suggest you put in the screws and take em out before the installation since its untapped plastic and make sure you put the spring in proper. Took about 2 mag refills before the spring wore in and no feed issues. Great little upgrade

Love it! It took a little dremel work on the "wings" mating the two halves together and also in the bottom half where the follower sits.Just plastic burrs and minor clearance issues. The follower fits like a glove into the base and the clearance is tight! Now I can stuff 15 rounds in the mag +1 in the chamber and dont have ANY problems feeding. I can even load 15 rounds of the shorter 22LR, Augila "Collibri" subsonic 500fps into the wingman magazine and the gun will feed EVERY ONE from mag to chamber without fail! Of course you have to rack the slide to extract them.

    Wingman" +5 Magazine Bumper

Good fit and finish. Works perfectly on the Walther P22 magazine and provides a nice grip area for my pinky finger. The bumper clears the tall piece of the grip back-strap and the mag still freely drops away from the pistol. The installation video was helpful. I installed the supplied small disc spring spacer to help ensure against misfeeds. Loading all 15 rds gets a little tough towards the 12th rd but the mag now holds a total of 15 rds. I did have to smooth out the front area of the bumper with 660 grit sandpaper right at the margin between the upper and lower halves of the bumper. There was just a little bit plastic flash noticeable to touch but not sight. I could feel a rough spot under my pinky but a few passes with the sandpaper resolved it. Haven't been to the range yet for function testing.
