Trigger Upgrades

The factory TX22 trigger is a polymer unit built around a striker fired trigger group with a curved face and a trigger safety blade. It functions reliably, but the curve allows finger placement to shift between shots, and there is meaningful take-up before the striker releases plus overtravel after it.

TANDEMKROSS offers two options for trigger upgrades on the Standard:

• Victory Trigger for TaurusTX™ 22: A drop in trigger replacement made from aerospace aluminum with a flat, aggressively textured face and adjustable pre-travel and post-travel set screws. This lets the shooter dial out slack before the break and limit overtravel after it.
• Lightened Trigger Spring for TaurusTX™ 22: A spring change that alters perceived pull weight. This is a low-cost internal upgrade that reduces trigger pull weight by up to 50%. While it works great on its own, it is commonly paired with the Victory Trigger since the two accomplish different parts of the same goal.

Sights and Optic Options

The factory TX22 Standard ships with polymer three dot sights. They are serviceable, but a white dot front post can be slower to pick up in some situations, and speed on a rimfire pistol competition stage is largely a function of how fast the eye finds the sights. Shooters restricted to iron sights cannot solve this with an optic, so the front sight itself has to do the work.

The Fiber Optic Front Sight for TaurusTX™ 22 replaces the factory front post with a fiber optic rod that gathers available light and gives the eye a bright, obvious point of reference.

Compensators and Muzzle Devices

The TX22 Standard leaves the factory with a 4.10 inch threaded barrel and an included adapter collar, so it is set up for a muzzle device out of the box. The biggest advantage of adding a compensator is recoil control. The added weight up front helps balance the pistol, and venting gas upward counters muzzle flip so the sight tracks flatter between shots. Steel Challenge allows compensators in both rimfire pistol divisions, and the louder report they produce can even help sound-activated shot timers pick up shots.

TANDEMKROSS offers four compensator options that fit the TX22 Standard:

• Game Changer Compensator: Aluminum for slightly less weight than its steel counterparts with several ports facing upward to direct gas upward and keep the muzzle down. Available in three colors to complement or match our other accessories.
• The Game Changer PRO Compensator: Stainless steel, designed around rimfire pressures and fouling rather than adapted from a centerfire product. The starting point for most TX22 Standard owners.
• The Game Changer PRO Squared Compensator: The same function in a squared profile designed specifically to pair well with the TX and look great on other firearms with slides or more polygonal features.
• The Steam Demon Compensator: Steel, with an open port design and an easy-clean coating for shooters who want to simplify cleaning and maintenance.

Magazines, Bumpers, and Extended Mag Releases

The factory magazine release features a somewhat low profile and is reversible to support right or left handed shooters. Shooters with smaller hands, wearing gloves, participating in competition, or reloading under pressure may find themselves wanting something easier to access and engage. Magazine capacity and ease of swapping and seating magazines are also crucial parts of a speedy reload, especially under pressure.

TANDEMKROSS treats the reload as a system. The Titan Extended Magazine Release for TaurusTX™ 22 enlarges the release so it can be reached without breaking the firing grip and works from either side. The Wingman +5 Magazine Bumper for TaurusTX™ 22 adds a base pad that increases capacity and gives the hand a positive surface for seating the magazine, sold in a two pack and including upgraded magazine springs. Slide Manipulation

The TX22 slide serrations are nice, but they can be harder to run with wet hands, gloves, or reduced grip strength. The Halo Charging Ring for TaurusTX™ 22 replaces the factory slide cap with a ring the shooter can hook with a finger or the whole hand, turning racking the slide into an easy pull rather than a pinch.

Maintenance and Wear

Rimfire pistols also foul faster than centerfire pistols, and a TX22 that runs a few hundred rounds per range session accumulates residue in the striker channel and along the rails where it eventually shows up as light strikes. Where to Start on a Factory TX22 Standard

Work in this order. Each step builds on the one before it.

First, the trigger. It is the most important part you interact with on every single shot and the improvement is immediate regardless of what you shoot. The Lightened Trigger Spring is the smallest change that produces the biggest difference. The Victory Trigger is the larger parallel change that adds adjustability and consistency to each trigger pull.

Second, the magazine. The Wingman +5 Magazine Bumper adds capacity and a longer, easier to grab base pad. This upgrade is a simple swap that pays off on every reload.

Third, a compensator. This makes perfect sense for anyone trying to maintain their sight picture for quick consecutive shots on target.

TX22 Variants: What Actually Changes

TandemKross covers four TX22 configurations: the original Standard, the optics-ready T.O.R.O., the Competition, and the Compact. The differences run deeper than barrel length.

What differs: Barrel length is longest on the Competition, mid-length on the Standard and T.O.R.O., and shortest on the Compact. Optics mounting also splits the lineup: the Competition mounts direct to the barrel so the optic doesn't reciprocate with the slide, the T.O.R.O. and Compact mount direct to the slide, and the Standard has no factory optics cut. Muzzle threading is direct-threaded on the Competition and T.O.R.O., while the Compact and Standard both use a thread adapter or collar. Magazine capacity ranges from 13 rounds (Compact) to 16 rounds (Standard and Competition) to 22 rounds (T.O.R.O.), and every variant except the T.O.R.O. is also available in a 10 round configuration. Every variant also runs its own distinct guide rod assembly.

What carries across: The grip frame is shared across all four variants, except the Compact, which is shorter in both vertical height and horizontal length.

The takeaway: Which TX22 you own determines more of your accessory options than most shooters expect, but the core upgrades - trigger, controls, and charging accessories - still fit no matter which one you're running.

Building for Steel Challenge Rimfire Pistol

Steel Challenge splits rimfire pistol into two divisions and the division you pick determines where the upgrade money goes. A TX22 Standard is competitive in either.

Rimfire Pistol Iron Sights: Optics are not permitted, so the fiber optic front sight and the trigger carry the build. Those are the two things that shorten the time between positively identifying the target and the shot breaking.

Rimfire Pistol Open: Optics are permitted. The same trigger work applies, and the sighting investment shifts to a red dot, which on a TX22 depends on the slide configuration.

Applies to both: Compensators are permitted and suppressors are prohibited in both divisions, so TANDEMKROSS compensators are on the table either way.
