The TANDEMKROSS "Eagle's Talon" Extractor for Ruger® MK™ Series is a much needed reliability upgrade that replaces the stamped factory provided extractor.  Often the factory extractor won't maintain a secure enough hold on the spent casing as the pistol is cycling and will case stove-pipes and failures-to-eject malfunctions.  Luckily with this simple to install and affordable upgrade, you can greatly improve the reliability of your firearm!  TANDEMKROSS "Eagle's Talon" Extractor is correctly machined with a positive hook that will grab and secure each round until it needs to be ejected.  Eliminate your frustrations at the range with a much better part that will throw your spent cases far away from ever causing another failure-to-eject!

I was having problems with my Ruger Mark III Hunter where cases would not eject every 20 rounds or so. I ordered the " Eagle's Talon " extractor. Contact with Tandemkross was easy, promptly replied to and efficient. Shipping from the USA was quick and relatively inexpensive. Extractor was easy to install and after about 300 rounds, I have not yet had an FTE. Great product.

My Sr-22 rifle could not go through a mag without a stovepipe or double feed. I installed the Eagle's Talon extractor and spring and went to the range the same day. Shot around 100 rounds with not one problem. And this rifle had problems from day one. So if you have stovepipes or double feeds on your 10/22 this is the fix you need. Thanks again.

    Eagle's Talon

Part works well in my Ruger MKIV. Had a bit of a struggle removing the old extractor and installing the new one, but once I did, I was happy with the result.

    Eagle Talon Extractor

I have to give this one. I installed it in a Mark IV and there was hardly any lateral movement, it did not even move enough to clear the center under-cut area, ergo, the shell would of not came out. I installed/removed it 3 different times to rule out error. I then re-installed the original, and all was perfect again, so I left it. Because of this, I did not use the new firing pin either.

    Better than factory or not

Posted by Wayne Lowe on 17th Jan 2017

As far as better function than factory. It spits the spent shells out. But so did the factory one in my ruger. Is this one stronger and less likely to break. That I can't answer. But it is more refined in the looks department than the stamped out factory one. I choose to install it based on my son shooting in 4H matches. We had one competitor lose an extractor during the state shoot. So just to be on the safe side. With the amount of rounds that my ruger had fired in its life I felt it was time. Just based on the fact this extractor looks better built than the factory one. So far I'm pleased.

Before installing the Eagle's Talon Extractor I was getting occasional failure to extract while shooting in Steel Challenge Match's. Since installing the Eagle's Talon I haven't had a single failure to extract. It was a good investment.

    No more FTE

Posted by Jeremy on 11th Jan 2017

I installed this along with the LCI insert because I had issues with stovepipes and jams. I haven't been able to test this out a lot. The pit we shoot in is full of snow and it's been cold out. That being said, I put maybe 150 rounds through my 22/45 since installing this and the LCI insert and haven't had any problems with FTE or stovepipes. In hindsight, I wish I would have ordered the Gunsmither Pistol Pal (TK Part # 0801N0033SSL1). It was a bear to remove my old extractor with the tools I had on hand

    The Right Call

Posted by Bryan Wilson on 24th Dec 2016

After trying multiple 22 pistols, I purchase a Ruger Mark III Target model as it was the most reliable by far on the market and it would handle all the different ammo I ran through it including the cheap stuff with minimal FTF / FTE. I wanted something that I could take to the range and shoot off 300 or so rounds a week without breaking the bank. After about 6 months I decided to simplify the cleaning and improve reliability by replacing the Loaded Chamber Indicator (LCI) with the TANDEMKROSS replacement LCI insert. If I didn’t clean the gun after a couple of visits to the range I noticed that the LCI would be gummed up and I didn’t want problems in the future. The Installation was straightforward and the trick of using a magnet was spot on. Reinstalled the set screw with Loctite. The black color is a very good match and unless you are looking closely you would never notice the change. At the same time I also purchased the TANDEMKROSS “Eagle’s Talon” Extractor and the “Fire Starter” Titanium Firing Pin in order to hopefully alleviate the occasional (1 every 400 / 500 rounds) FTF / FTE. Installation of both parts was very straight forward and was accomplished during regular cleaning. The installation video for the Extractor was spot on and very helpful. Since the installation of all 3 items I have shot over 2000 rounds with no FTE / FTF or miss feeds and I even went over 1000 rounds during this period without cleaning (not recommended) just to test reliability. Bottom Line: I would highly recommend incorporating all 3 items into the Ruger Mark III pistol. They are all very inexpensive and high quality parts that will improve the reliability of a very reliable pistol.
