Wingman +5 Magazine Bumper for Ruger SR22

At a glance:

  • Increase your magazine capcity by 5
  • Better magazine seating
  • Extends bottom of Magazine for better grip - great for bigger hands!

Made of nearly indestructible Zytel®, these finely made magazine bumpers are designed to enable your factory magazines to load five extra rounds! These SR22® bumpers extend the bottom of the magazine to allow for more grip and better handling. Even more importantly, they help with seating magazines securely into the pistol frame by providing extra material to "bump" them into a locked state.

From competition shooters to casual backyard plinkers, everyone can benefit from a two-pack of these simple to install upgrades.  Don't load less ammo, load more with the TANDEMKROSS magazine bumpers!

PLEASE NOTE: Installing the bumper removes the magazine follower button so the last round hold open feature will be disabled.

Work well after some minor modification

Posted by charlie on 9th Jun 2018

These mag extenders work well after some minor modification. I did the mechanical work to convert a 10 round mag to 15 rounds using the Wingman. I found the first cartridge fired fine but the second and/or third cartridge would hang and fail to fire. After that, the rest of the cartridges in the mag fired just fine. After a bunch of experimentation I discovered why. If you look at the Wingman base plate you'll see two prongs that fit up into the mag. The follower fits between the prongs. Using a screwdriver to depress the mag spring and follower, I discovered the follower hit a "hard spot" just as the follower entered the baseplate. Futher, I found the problem to be the clearance between the two baseplate prongs and the follower is too tight. I removed the spring and let the follower use gravity to slide from the top of the mag to the bottom. Sure enough, the follower would stop as it entered the baseplate. I solved the problem by using a small file to remove material from the inside surface of the two prongs. Then the follower slid back and forth with no problem. I've fired 60 rounds from the two modified mags and every round fired fine. This is a worthwhile addition to the SR22 if you don't mind doing a little modification yourself.

    Not bad

Wingman +5 isn't bad but after about a 700 rounds through it the spring has given up. It now only holds 13. If you out 15 in the spring doesn't push up the next rounds and they all become loose in the magazine. I've cleaned and oiled the the springs and tried different things and it still will not handle the tension the full capacity creates on it.

I love this product. It was easy to install, with the photo directions they sent with it. Plus it fits the firearm well. Like it was from the factory. Seats nice. The extra capacity is nice for the .22lr. It still can be used for concealed carry. Even with the added length of the handle. Love it!!!

These worked exactly as expected. And they were very easy to install via watching the nicely provided installation video from Tandemkross. Thanks again guys. Everything I purchase from you always exceeds my expectations. Please keep it up!

Unlike many of the previous reviewers, my SR 22didn't like these Wingman bumpers at all. If I load 15 rounds, the first round is aligned at too flat of an angle and will not feed at all. The most I can load in a magazine is 12 rounds. If I load 15, I'll have to clear 3 jams before the pistol starts running. This plus the loss of last round slide lock back makes this product a bad idea. I own lots of Tandemkross hardware and this is this first time I've been disappointed. Invest in something else for your SR22

So far, after about 100 rounds fired using them, they work OK. They don't work well with the full +5 however. +3 is what works consistently for me.

Great alternative cost about the same as a individual magazine. An now you load less.

    wingman bumper

There ok I only tried one of them and I have feed issues 90% of the time also it sometimes jams the spring if you load the full 15. The build quality for the price isn't bad.

    A plus with a loss!

These install easily and feed almost flawlessly but you lose ability to lower the feed ramp externally (use any speed loader) and end up with a soar thumb after a few loads to gain 5 rounds. I say great to have on hand if you choose a .22 as protection (back packing, etc) not worth it at the range when you can slide a simple plastic speed loader around the mag, pull down and drop rounds in. In other words this adds the capacity but you must load one round at a time using you thumbs. 5 stars if they could find a way around removing the side slider to allow for pain free loading as well as kids! Happy shooting! Love this company and highly recommend the captured recoil spring for this as well!
