Steel Hammer Bushing for Mark III and 22/45 Pistols

At a glance:
  • Magazines will slip right out
  • Easier takedown and cleaning
  • Can reduce failure to feeds
  • Comes with colored installation instructions

This high quality 304 stainless steel bushing is made for high duty cycle shooting and replaces the Ruger® factory bushing allowing you to safely remove the magazine disconnect from the firearm. There are instructions on the internet showing the use of washers and other parts, but this is unreliable and unsafe! Use an actual part that is designed for the job. This bushing lets the hammer move properly and at the correct speed. You will be pleased with the fit and final result with this bushing. If you know how to clean this gun you can easily remove the disconnect. Removing the disconnect allows the magazines to fall free, allows them to seat properly and does allow the gun to fire with the magazine out for tactical competition and self-defense scenarios. Check to see if your state requires the magazine disconnect installed if the firearm is ever resold.

*** ATTN: FAQ: Will this bushing work in my Volquartsen Hammer? YES. The bushing and VQ hammer will work together. However, it can be a tight fit to get them together. Please let us know if you are experiencing trouble and we will get you a bushing that will fit into the tighter VQ hammer.

    Hammer Bushing

OK, Now this is one of those products you can't say enough about. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. I'm a senior citizen and at my age, you don't waste your time writing reviews. So you know I'm impressed. I own a small lathe and considered making this part. Fact is, I couldn't buy the material for under $10.00. And then the shipping? Frankly, it's a no brainer. Buy it!

Could not believe what a difference this made after installation. Gun is easier to assemble after take down and the mags fall out now.

    Hammer Bushing

I recently grabbed two of these bushings from TK and guys these things are perfect. The fit and finish is perfect and the function is as well. These bushings simplify the disassembly process for cleaning so much that they are worth the money just for that added benefit. But the best thing you will notice right off the get go is how much easier it is to deal with insertion and extraction of your magazines from the gun. I have recommended these to everyone I know with a Mark III. I first installed one in a Ruger 22/45 and it was not bad, just a little patience and watch the video and everything will work out just fine. I also installed one in a Mark III Hunter. It was somewhat more tricky but if I can get it done then so can you...patience! I highly recommend this part to anyone that can read this review!!!

It made my Mark Three into a Mark Two

Posted by Keith on 13th Nov 2014

I sold my very, very heavy Mark Two 5 1/2" bull-barrel and bought a very light 22/45 Lite that had the Mark Three mag safety. "Put the mag in, take the mag out, put the mag in again" I felt like I was doing the Ruger version of the Hokey Pokey. I changed the parts as directed using the TandemKross video, even though he had his thumb between the camera and the bushing during the most crucial part of the installation visual instructions. My new pistol now works like my old Mark Two, and the trigger is much better, too.

Made my MKIII's, a Hunter and a Standard, as good as an MKII and improved the trigger to boot. A great bargain and a must have if you own a III. In fact, don't spring for an aftermarket sear or an accurizing kit until you've installed this simple bushing and witnessed the results.

Sorry TK. My install didn't go as smooth as your video. Couldn't get the hammer pin out. Your video doesn't show how you're getting that retaining spring out of the notch. Had to have my gunsmith do the install. But once installed, it's great. Mags fall right out. No mag needed for field strip/reassembly. Able to fire one in pipe without a mag. Improve the section of your install video to show exactly how you're getting that retaining spring out of the hammer pin notch.

Hammer Bushing for Ruger MK III

Posted by George on 5th Nov 2014

This hammer bushing is the "cat's meow" , the "bee's knees" and other descriptive phrases. I love it. The mags will fly across the floor now whereas before I could hardly get them out at all. I don't know what Ruger was thinking with their magazine disconnect, but I think they blew it. The Tandemkross bushing is a must have for the Ruger MK III.
