Steel Hammer Bushing for Mark III and 22/45 Pistols

At a glance:
  • Magazines will slip right out
  • Easier takedown and cleaning
  • Can reduce failure to feeds
  • Comes with colored installation instructions

This high quality 304 stainless steel bushing is made for high duty cycle shooting and replaces the Ruger® factory bushing allowing you to safely remove the magazine disconnect from the firearm. There are instructions on the internet showing the use of washers and other parts, but this is unreliable and unsafe! Use an actual part that is designed for the job. This bushing lets the hammer move properly and at the correct speed. You will be pleased with the fit and final result with this bushing. If you know how to clean this gun you can easily remove the disconnect. Removing the disconnect allows the magazines to fall free, allows them to seat properly and does allow the gun to fire with the magazine out for tactical competition and self-defense scenarios. Check to see if your state requires the magazine disconnect installed if the firearm is ever resold.

*** ATTN: FAQ: Will this bushing work in my Volquartsen Hammer? YES. The bushing and VQ hammer will work together. However, it can be a tight fit to get them together. Please let us know if you are experiencing trouble and we will get you a bushing that will fit into the tighter VQ hammer.

    THE FIVE-STAR REVIEWS ARE RIGHT!

Posted by George on 20th Mar 2015

THE FIVE-STAR REVIEWS ARE RIGHT! This is a great mod for any Ruger MKIII. It will do 3 things for you immediately: 1. Magazines will be much easier to insert and remove. 2. Trigger pull will be lighter and smoother. 3. You can pull the trigger without the magazine if you need to. ALSO -- when you do this mod, go ahead and remove the loaded chamber indicator and pin as well. This is easy to do; there are no structural issues (the LCI doesn't add any integrity to the pistol receiver); and you will then get rid of the main cause of occasional failures to feed. You will then have a pistol the way Bill Ruger designed it, with 100% feeding and cycling reliability. No fitting required -- I've put 4 of these in 4 different pistols and all have gone in smoothly without any fitting. There are plenty of videos on the internet showing how to disassemble, remove old bushing, and replace the TK hammer bushing and the LCI. Just pay attention to the instructions and take your time. TIPS: 1. Get a tabletop vise (pad it with a soft cloth) to hold the frame while you do it. You'll need both hands to free the hammer pin and remove the magazine disconnector. 2. Have someone hold a flashlight for you or use a small headlamp. You have to be able to see the parts inside the frame to do this. 3. Use a hex wrench or pushpin slightly smaller than the hammer pin to push it out first. THE TRICK IS TO PUSH THE HAMMER PIN JUST FAR ENOUGH TO CLEAR THE HAMMER BUSHING WHILE NOT PUSHING IT ALL THE WAY OUT -- IF YOU DO SO THE SEAR SPRING GETS OUT OF POSITION AND THE SEAR MAY DO SO AS WELL. NOT A DISASTER BUT TAKES MORE TIME TO GET BACK TOGETHER PROPERLY. 4. Once you see how far to push the hammer pin you can then withdraw your pushpin and free the hammer bushing and mag disconnect parts for removal. Once you're done the pistol is a snap to disassemble/reassemble for cleaning, and you'll have much more confidence in its reliability. TIP on LCI pin removal: Usually you can tap the receiver and the pin comes right out. If it doesn't, spray some WD-40 on it, let it sit a few minutes, and then tap. Remember -- watch the videos first, several times, to understand how it's done. Then make sure you can see what you're doing, and take your time.

This is the best 10.00 I have ever spent! Easy install, just follow directions. No more magazine safety, smoother trigger,I couldn't be happier. I have also installed your LCI eliminator that also works to perfection. Thanks again!

This bushing works great. I've ordered four. It's easy to install and with a couple of other tweets, it makes the Ruger mkIII a passable pistol for target use. Save the mag disconnect parts just in case someone wants a crappy trigger.

High quality, easy install, video makes it even easier, mags go in and fly out smoothly, field strip is now easier. Installed it with the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit and extended mag release. It's like a completely different firearm.

Steel Hammer Bushing for Mark III and 22/45 Pistols

Posted by Jaeger Meister on 2nd Mar 2015

As some of you may have seen on Youtube this modification can be done with washers etc. However if you want a clean and easy way to make this modification I highly suggest the purchase of this item. It fits perfectly prevents any kind of hammer wobble and does exactly what it advertises. Follow the Instructions carefully and you will be able to make the modifications easily! Will buy again if the need arises.
