No need to use anything to insert. Just install that's it. No having spring and rod flying out and having to search for it. Just another fine product from Tandemkross.

Sentinel captured spring
After breaking down my Victory and reinstalling the recoil spring I could not believe that S&W did not think of this captured spring. Great idea, good thoughtful product.

Great improvement! No more trying to thread the spring back on the rod when reassembling the bolt after cleaning.

Easy Swap
Very easy swap to make. I had damaged the original spring trying to get it to stay in place on the rod as I inserted it back in the gun. This eliminates any risk of that happening and makes take-down and reassembly simple.

Captured spring guide rod
I'll admit , I was skeptical. I bought the captured spring rod because of the convenience , doubting that the part would "improve" over all function of the firearm. I was wrong. The extra strength of the captured spring changes the recoil impulse in a very positive way. Stabilizes the gun in ways I did not anticipate. All in all a preceptible upgrade. AND its an easier install when cleaning.
