  • Helps reduce lock time for higher accuracy

The TANDEMKROSS "Fire Starter" Titanium Firing Pin for Ruger® MK™ Series is a drop in replacement for the factory firing pin. A titanium firing pin is lighter and moves faster than a heavier steel pin. This reduces lock time and allows the gun to go off faster which can help to improve accuracy. The lighter titanium pin is resistant to mushrooming and will provide repeatability with positive primer strikes. With less deformation of the casing due to the lighter weight of the firing pin it can also lead to better extraction. The stability of titanium over steel makes it an ideal choice of material when operating in extreme heat or cold conditions.

    100% Reliable

Posted by Pete Tofani on 14th Jun 2015

I have the Fire Starter Titanium firing pin and Eagles Talon extractor in my Ruger 22/45 lite and have not had one misfire or any trouble at all since installing these products. I compete at my local gun club and I have to rely on my gun and so far it has not let me down.

    Easy to install

I ordered the Fire Starter Titanium Firing Pin and the Eagle’s Talon Extractor combo in addition to the Gunsmither Pistol Pal. Installation of the firing pin was very straight forward and easily installed. Installing the Eagle’s Talon Extractor was a little more challenging but using the pistol pal tempered steel pin attached to the cap made it again easy to install. If you haven’t done so, I recommend you order all three items with the pistol pal making a great edition to your tool box.

    Easy Cure for most FTFs

Posted by Stan T. on 7th May 2015

My early model Ruger 22/45 was having an occasional "failure to fire" when shooting in the Rimfire Challenge". I initially blamed the misfires on the ammo that you get these days, but then I found the TandemKross Fire Starter firing pin, and decided to give it a try. It was easy to install, and I estimate that it reduced my FTFs by over 90%. This is a must-have if you shoot in competition.

This addition to my Mark III Target is working out just great. No issues at all. I also installed the Hammer bushing to remove the Mag safety. A+++ on tandemKross products.

    For Competitive Shooting & Enthusiasts

Posted by Brian Lawson on 23rd Mar 2015

The TandemKross Fire Starter is a great addition to the Ruger pistol, whether it's a 22/45 or MK I II III. It weighs a total of 3 grams as opposed to the factory steel pin coming in at 5 grams. It is a precision piece of equipment with a lubricious exterior making it less prone to build-up. A faster moving firing pin reduces lock time which is beneficial to accuracy. I installed this along with the Challenger Bolt Racker & Eagle's Claw Extractor in my Open Gun. It is utterly reliable with now FTFs, FTEs, or any other gun-related malfunctions. Essentially you'll have a Competition Bolt without the $240 entry fee. This is a great upgrade for anyone getting into competitive shooting as well as the budding gunsmith / 2A Enthusiast. Installation is very simple and the improved reliability makes this a sound upgrade through and through.
