The TANDEMKROSS "Fire Starter" Titanium Firing Pin for Ruger® MK™ Series is a drop in replacement for the factory firing pin. A titanium firing pin is lighter and moves faster than a heavier steel pin. This reduces lock time and allows the gun to go off faster which can help to improve accuracy. The lighter titanium pin is resistant to mushrooming and will provide repeatability with positive primer strikes. With less deformation of the casing due to the lighter weight of the firing pin it can also lead to better extraction. RUGER MK III titanium firing pin.
I currently have three MK III pistols. All have new spring sets and two have the titanium firing pins. These two are the ones that had a lot Failure To Fire cartridges. I disassembled and cleaned all of the bolts and two had the pins replaced. Most of my issues were with 36 grain Federal ammo. Which I use a lot based on great prices. I also learned that switching to AGUILA HV 40 grain and the pin replacement resolved all issues. Which for target pistols was really a minor inconvenience. Also, I really appreciate the availability of all the Tandemkross "how to" videos. Thanks for that TK! Tom Marshall Buford, Georgia

During a routine cleaning of the bolt I saw that I needed to replace the firing pin spring. While I was at it I purchased the "Fire Starter". I saw an immediate difference in the weight. It was so much lighter. So far I have fired about 300 rounds since installing it and have had no misfires. It is working perfectly. I am very happy with my purchases from Tandemkross.

I was having ftf problems with my new ruger mk4 22/45. I was shooting bulk cheap ammo, because I like to put alot of rounds downrange. i was getting way too many ftf's. After installing this pin, took it out to function test. Fired 300-400 rnds. 1 ftf and it was the round that was a dud. I reset the round 3 times ,three different distinct primer hits. Confirmed a bad round. The stock firing pin is inexcusable. It make a far too narrow strike. Come on Ruger. But good for you tandemkross!
